Our little investigation into the music of smaller EU countries brings us round to Lithuania, not responsible for a whole lot of stuff I’m familiar with previously or, indeed any. Here we have a brand new release from Autism, originally a one man band thing this is their first as a four piece band proper. Calling your band Autism seems kind of a dick move, in the parlance of our times, but if we factor in rock music’s impressive history of sensitive portrayals of schizophrenia and the endless font of disgust that is the world of grindcore album titles and so on, well they just about get a pass. What you can read about them in English clearly suffers from the travails of translation. Handily it’s an instrumental project and they play pretty decent post metal type stuff in a loosely Locrian/Pelican type of vein with a few samples thrown in here and there. I was surprised by it. In a good way.
